About
Building the Future of Reliable Energy Infrastructure
Trans Permian Energy develops modern power generation infrastructure designed to deliver dependable electricity where Texas needs it most.
About
Who We Are
Trans Permian Energy is a power generation company developing around-the-clock electricity infrastructure in Pecos County, Texas, at the center of the Permian Basin.
We are a member of the MMEX family of companies, drawing on leadership with more than three decades of experience developing, financing, building, and operating large-scale energy infrastructure across the United States and internationally, including a greenfield merchant power plant delivered on time and on budget in one of the most logistically difficult environments in the world.
Our focus is deliberately narrow. We are not a diversified utility or a merchant trading operation. We are building generation capacity in the region with the widest gap between the power available and the power required.

Focused on Power Generation
One discipline, one region, rather than a diversified portfolio.
Located in Pecos County, Texas
At the center of the Permian Basin, inside the ERCOT West Load Zone.
Built for the Long Term
Infrastructure designed to operate for decades, not to be flipped.
Our Mission
To build power generation where it is most needed, using local fuel, with carbon capture integrated from the design stage.
Texas is growing faster than its generation capacity. The Permian Basin produces the fuel that could close that gap and lacks the infrastructure to convert it into electricity locally. Our mission is to build that infrastructure, responsibly and at scale, and to operate it reliably for decades.
Our Vision
Our vision is to build a scalable power platform in West Texas, beginning with 220 MW and engineered to grow beyond 1 GW.
The project is designed in phases for a reason. Each phase is built on infrastructure the previous one established, on land already secured, using a configuration already proven on site. That approach turns a single facility into a platform, and it means capacity can be added on a timeline that matches how quickly demand arrives.
Our Approach
How We Work
Foundational principles driving the Trans Permian project.
Proven Technology
Every element of the design is commercially established and in service somewhere today. A power plant is a thirty-year plus asset, and reliability compounds. The innovation here is in how proven components are combined, not in the components themselves.
Local Fuel, Local Power
The facility runs on natural gas produced in the surrounding basin and delivers electricity to load in the same region. That removes the transmission dependency that delays most new generation, and it converts a regional fuel surplus into a regional power supply.
Carbon Capture Designed In
Carbon capture is integrated into hydrogen production rather than added to the exhaust of a conventional gas plant. That is a design decision made at the beginning, and it is why the carbon intensity of this facility is fundamentally different from a conventional combined-cycle plant.
Engineering Discipline
Feasibility, permitting, and preliminary engineering completed before capital is committed. Detailed engineering follows in standard construction milestones.
Behind-the-Meter Delivery
Power supplied directly to nearby load, independent of long-lead transmission buildout.
Phased Development
Capacity added in stages on land already secured and infrastructure already built.
Reliability
Why Reliability Matters
Not all electricity is the same. A grid needs generation it can call on.
Wind and solar produce power inexpensively when conditions allow, but conditions do not always allow, and demand does not wait. What keeps a grid stable is dispatchable generation: capacity that runs when it is called, regardless of weather or time of day.
That matters more as demand changes character. An electrified drilling operation cannot pause when the wind drops. Manufacturing lines run on schedules set by customers, not by conditions.
The Trans Permian facility is designed for an effective availability of approximately 97%, roughly 355 days per year. That is the specific contribution this project makes: not just more electricity, but electricity that can be relied on.
Dispatchable Capacity
Generation that runs on demand rather than only when conditions permit.
Around-the-Clock Availability
Designed for approximately 97% effective availability, roughly 355 days per year.
Grid Stability
Firm capacity supports the balance between supply and demand across ERCOT.
Industrial Continuity
Manufacturing and oilfield operations require power that does not vary with weather.
Continuous Industrial Load
Large industrial operations need uninterrupted, high-reliability supply.
Peak Demand Support
Capacity available during the periods when the grid is most stressed.
What We Stand For
- Reliability: The product this company sells is dependability. Everything else follows from it
- Innovation: Applied where it improves outcomes. Proven technology preferred in assets built to run for decades
- Integrity: Direct communication with investors, regulators, and communities, including when the news is inconvenient
- Safety: The condition under which work is performed, not a priority that competes with others
- Responsible Development: Carbon capture and current environmental standards integrated by design
- Long-Term Thinking: Decisions measured across the operating life of the asset.
- Community Partnership:A permanent presence in Pecos County carries permanent obligations.
- Excellence: Thorough engineering advanced before capital is committed.
